Bee Keeping  with Matt Reed

Saturday May 19th 5-7pm $40    -   Keeping bees naturally with foundationless hives.

Magic + Medicine of Honey with Shauna Spier

Sunday May 20th 10-12am $33  -  The amazing medicinal properties of honey.

Students will learn to create their own herb infused honey salve, and will bring home their creation. We will discuss the healing benefits of honey, ways it can be applied as medicine in modern life, and the use of honey as medicine in ancient times.

Shauna is a folk herbalist, mother of five, basket weaver and soapmaker who learned from her great grandmothers who were community herbalists and midwives. As a young child she spent her days running wild and free on hundreds of acres of untouched forest, and had a hawk, owl, and raccoon as pets. At the age of nine she was invited to study Reiki with Beth Grey, who brought Reiki to the US directly from Hawayo Takata. She grew and continued to learn from other local folk herbalists, and studied midwifery and classical homeopathy in her twenties. During her studies in midwifery she compiled a book on herbs for pregnancy, labor, postpartum and beyond, and had the pleasure of working with Grandmother midwives who practice in ways that have nearly been lost today. She was blessed to attend a twin birth, and a caul birth in the time of her apprenticeship. Over the years she has experienced a series of what she believes are miracles, which she aspires to carry with honor and share with others. At this time she lives in Portland Oregon and spends every moment possible in the forests keeping grounded and collecting wild herbs with which she then creates the products she offers in her apothecary. Her hope is to keep the fires of the old ways burning so that they are not lost and forgotten, and to live a happy peaceful life.
